19 March 2018 - Week 50

Monday this week was our only rest day.  We did our laundry and got ready to fly out again on Tuesday at 3 am.  We have 2 more Zone Conferences this week.  First we will go to Iasi ( pronounced Yash) and then again to Bucharest for the Mihai Pravu Zone Conference.  A fun 3 day trip.

The hotel where we stayed in Iasi was VERY nice.  We think it was bigger than our apartment in Arad.

The drapes were clipped to carriers that slid in a rod attached to the ceiling.  There are usually no ropes to move the carriers, you just grab the drapes and pull them shut.  When we got ready for bed that night we wanted the drapes closed.  When we grabbed the last one, the rod just popped right down and was hanging down on one end.  Yikes!  What to do about this.  Luckily Brent is very handy and he has some experience with drapery rods and such.  We moved the chair from the desk and moved the desk over so he could stand on it and he fixed it.  We were grateful that we didn't have to go to the fancy front desk and say that we had ripped down the drapes. Wheew!

To entertain ourselves and find some supper we went to the Palas (Palace) Mall right next door to the hotel.  We must have been hungary because I took lots of food pictures.  Lots of goodies for sale getting ready for Easter.

Delicious looking candies arranged in sweet boquests like flowers.

Boxes that looked like treasure chests full of surprises and candies.

Delicious pastries.

Traditional nesting doll only painted on a wall for decoration.

A view of the palas from our hotel room.  It was so wet and rainy and we didn't have time to get there before it closed for the day.

Breakfast bar at the hotel.   Many healthy foods and then this great dessert bar.

Loved these so cool stubby jam spoons.

The stubby jam spoon holder.  Such a unique utensil!!!

Cool pepper grinder.  You hold it in your hand then push down on the top.  Brent is going to make some when we get home.

Sora DeSpain organized another get together for our second visit to Bucharest.   We tried to eat dinner on Wednesday evening at an Italian restaurant recommended by President Ivory.  There are two Italian restaurants on the street and unfortunately, we think we chose the wrong one.  The dinner was mediocre at best and the service was slow.  We decided to go to another place to top off the meal.  We chose the restaurant located below our hotel.  We ordered a lemon tart and apple cobbler.  It was served with a cute little pansy.

Following our Sunday meetings we went less active finding with the Sisters.   Out of three attempts we had one answered door, then we were turned away, another place we were not able to find the apartment and the last one was a no answer - so we left a My Family booklet and note.  We found these well used mail boxes and a fun heart attack left for someone.
