24 July 2017 - Week 16

One more week in the bag.  We began driving to the forest, it's really the woods to me,  in the mornings for a walk.  The reason I think it's the woods is that the trees are leafy with few evergreens.  To me, a forest should be mostly evergreen.  It's just a 5-minute drive from our apartment,  then we park the car and walk on a shaded road. It's been so hot, we try to avoid the hot time of day. These cute little flowers are growing in the woods. On Tuesday, we picked up the Elders at 7 am and drove to Oradea for Zona Conferencia.  It was our first time to meet the new President and his wife.  I feel bad I didn't get a picture of them. The Elders always do a good job of putting the meetings together.  Sora Gobar from the Ukraine, who is serving in Oradea currently, ordered our lunch.  It was pita-type bread sandwiches. Quite gooey and yummy, of course, Brent the non-sandwich eater, didn't care for them. The top picture is the companionships practicing their

I got sick last week so the blog was not done.  This post will be two weeks combined. We finally found an alteration shop where we could get Brent's shirt sleeves cut short and hemmed.  It cost $2.50.  I did not want to have to buy a sewing machine.  Close to the sewing shop is the Holy Trinity Cathedral.  Brent had been inside and was amazed by all the gold.  We walked over so I could see it.   So much gold it is hard to imagine where it all came from or how they could afford it.  No wonder half the building is under construction.  You would never know from the outside .  Here's a photo of some cool metal work on a downtown door and a metal railing on the front of a building. These photos are of the Roman Catholic Cathedral also in downtown Arad.  We could only view it through a gate.  The main part was blocked by a locked fence.  On Thursday we went out for Ice Cream or Ingetata with the missionaries and Sisters from t

When Brent took his walk on Monday morning, he found another tree with leaves that have some sprouts coming out the middle of the leaves. The little ball shapes on the end of the stems go down to the middle of the light colored leaves. It is the craziest thing! Continuing the story from last week, Brent spent several days this week running back and forth to the church and talking to people on the phone like Pres. Geambasu, Pres. Toth, and Global Support in Salt Lake City, trying to undo Elder Gore's accidental record move. It was Thursday before they could finally print out the paperwork needed to take the little donation money to the bank.  He was so glad to finally get it done.  We also helped the Elders ship a package to Sibiu to Elder Wilstead. He left his charger and two pairs of shoes in the apartment when he transferred.  Truthfully, he left a few more things, but we won't cover that.  So on one of our runs to the church, we stopped at a courier to ship the pack
