When we order things from the LDS store, the order is fulfilled from Germany.  They do not charge us for shipping which is nice, however, the items are not usually shipped together.  We have made many trips to Posta 8 in our neighborhood to pick up packages.  This week we again made a trip downtown to retrieve a package from the posta.   As we walked to the posta I realized the walkway had markings on it that I haven't seen before. It is divided in two.  One side for walkers and the other for things with wheels. Hmmm maybe everyone does not get it. Tuesday was Zone Conference.  We woke up at 4:45 to get ready.  It is a 4-hour drive to Cluj where the conference was being held.  The conference was well taught by President Hettinger and Sora Hettinger.  We learned that if we keep his commandments, God will cause the earth to shake in our behalf.  We should always confess the hand of God in our work and in our lives.  We should focus on what we hav

Most Monday mornings we go to the mall to make the donations deposit at the Bank of Transylvania.  When the Elders left at the end of February, Elder Andersen became the person in charge of taking the money to the bank.  He has tried to talk to the bank people, but most of the time it does not work.  He has better success just showing them the papers from his last deposit and giving them the money.  They do not understand his "limba Romana."  We sent Sora Sterrett home last week and this week we welcomed Sora Broadbear.  She comes from Price, Utah and has been assigned to Arad following her 6 week MTC experience.  We were happy to meet the sisters at the train station ( gara ) as they returned from new missionary pickup and training in Bucharest.  And the afternoon after she arrived, we went out into the country looking for less actives.  We were looking for Sora Bacanu and we found her.   We often meet a tram via on the street. It is kind of crazy how t

Let's just start this week off with a great selfie of Elder Andersen and his buddy, Gabriel who maintains our building.  Gabriel and Brent have developed a cautious relationship as each wants to convert the other to their religion, so they agree to disagree on many things, but talk about the things they have in common. Gabriel is a Romanian and speaks English.  He enjoys practicing his English on Elder Andersen. They talk about cars, music, America, food, and sound systems.  We spent a couple of days this week at the Arad National Archives looking for ancestors of our branch Sister Mogos.  As we walked down the sidewalk toward the Archives, I spotted this 1950 style telephone sitting in a windowsill just outside the Police office.  It must be for emergencies. We learned that Sora Robinson from Cluj has been hospitalized in Cluj.  She had seizures and is in a coma.  The doctors think she has encephalitis.   We paid a visit to our member Sora Piper this week.

Monday for preparation day we drove to the Corvin Castle again in Hunedoara.  Sora Sterrett will return home soon and neither of the sisters had been there, so despite the chilly day. . .we decided to go.  They enjoyed the trip.  Here are a few more pictures from the castle.  Notice the great plaid shirt Brent is wearing.  We didn't think about needing more than one set of casual clothes when we packed for Romania, so he has one shirt for winter and luckily Jennifer brought us a couple more summer shirts. We have noticed these corn cribs in the rural parts of Romania as we travel through the villages.  I had to stop and get a photo. Not sure how we did it, but we are at the castle on the same day as many school kids.  We thought it might make our visit unpleasant, but the kids were all well behaved and the teachers were organized.   And a bonus was that there were several castle "characters" there for us to enjoy.
