This week began with another trip to the Corvin Castle in Hunedoara, Romania.  Elder Wilstead had not been to the castle before and because he will be going home in February we decided to take him to see it. Elder Wilstead, Elder Gore, and Elder Andersen The day was rainy and drizzly, but we arrived at the castle a bit early and had to wait for them to open at 12:00 noon.  No discount for rainy days. This was Brent's 4th trip to this castle and Jamie's 3rd, but we enjoyed it.  There are lots of great picture opportunities there! This archway leads to the well that was dug by 3 Turkish prisoners.  The legend says that they were told if they found water, they would be freed.  After 15 years of digging the finally reached the water, but they were not released from prison.  The black fence you see is around the top of the well.   Here you can see the Elders on the left side in the distance as they discuss the "Bear Cave." This week we:   actually baked something in our Romanian oven, had a meeting with two men from the Europe area  who taught us about the Self Reliance program,  were excited to see our Grandaughter, Klarissa fly to her mission assignment, FaceTime with some of our kids, bought a sewing machine, walked in the forest, and attended District Conference in Oradea at the Ramada Hotel.  I have not used the oven in our apartment at all, mostly because the summer was hot and I did not want to heat up the apartment.  The symbols on the oven are a bit difficult, but I found a users guide online to help me.  We used our old bananas and baked some banana bread.  It was a bit dark on the top, but ok.  I missed using Brent's Grandma Jensen's recipe though.  I did not bring it with me.  Tuesday was a very foggy day, with lots of dew on the ground.  We went to the forest for a walk.  This picture is a panorama across a farmers field.  On Thursday our Self Reliance visitors arrived at

Lots of happenings this week beginning with a Monday Night branch Family Home Evening Halloween party.  Not many costumes, Jamie is dressed up like a Grandma and Sister Piper brought her umbrella so she could be a rainy day. We had some treats and watched a movie.  Wallace and Gromit and "The Curse of the Were Rabbit".  Left to right:  Sora Andersen, Elder Andersen, Elder Wilsted, Ioana, Elder Gore, Sora Folsom, Carmen, Sora Castaneda. On Wednesday we attended a Multi-Zone Zone Conference in Bucharest.  It was a special meeting with the Europe Area President, Elder Johnson. The Elders and Sisters rode a night train to arrive early on Wednesday morning.  We got up at 3 am and drove to Timișoara where we flew, arriving at 7 am Wednesday morning.  The office elders picked us up and delivered us to the Mihai Bravo chapel.  We were so happy to see some of the other mission senior couples.  We are the only couple on the west side of the country so we rarely see any of

Another week has passed and after the big week we had when Jennifer was here, we are short of stuff to share.   Monday began with transfers bringing to us Elder Wilstead, who was here 2 transfers ago.  He came from Sibiu on the train which did not require any help from the seniors.  Elder Paul has transferred to Bacau.  They were kind enough to take a selfie with my phone so I could share it!?!?! Tuesday I finally got up the courage to walk into a shop that cuts hair.  I was surprised to learn that she could do it right then, so I got it done.  Seven months without a haircut is way too long.  I had been watching for a place that I thought might have an English speaker and that looked like it would be a good place to go.   Here are a few autumn images from the forest where we walk.   The end.
