29 January 2017 - Week 43

At our Sunday meetings yesterday, Brother Moldovan explained to us how to find the lot that the church owns in Arad.  He said, "You go right down this street that the church is on to the first colored light.  At the light, you turn right.  Now go down the street until you see the big gypsy hotel.  It has big columns like the White House."  Monday while we were doing some errands we decided to see if we could find it.  Yup.  Here it is.

And there is a big fenced, locked up lot across the street from it.  We peered through the fence.  It seems like a nice place to have a church someday.  The members are looking forward to that day.

Very often when we are out in the car, we see the horse-drawn wagon carts.  This one had a family with a load of something like carrots or onions.  They seem to be busy hard-working people. Again the wagon is set up for two horses, but being used with one.  They tie the pole of the doubletree to the horse so it does not drag on the ground.

Brent found some "friends" when we went for our walk on Saturday.  These people were shooting at a big box out in the field.  We watched them for a few minutes then Brent went over to see if they would let him have a closer look.  He said the design of the bow was like something from medieval times.  It is a recurve with a really old-style way to hook the string and they were shooting wooden shafts with points that also had an old look to them.

The nice folks offered Brent a chance to shoot.

We continued our walk and as we rounded the corner we found a couple who were flying their very cool drone.  It was the kind of drone Brent would like if he had one.  It has many features that seem like they would make operating the drone better, like a return to home, headless operation, GPS, and aided hover.  We had to watch them for a bit too!  We're just makin' friends all over the place.

Jamie is always taking photos like the top of garbage can lids and such.  The thing that caught her eye today is this neat tree covered with beautiful ivy.  You can see the roots running vertically up the trunk of the tree. Mother Nature is so crafty!
