14 May 2018 - Week 58

Sora Broadbear, who came to Arad 5 weeks ago, has not been to see the Fortress near Arad, so that is the first order of business for this week. A small village called Lipova is at the bottom of the mountain where the Soimos Fortress is located.

Beautiful Lipova valley with rich dark brown soil.

This flowering tree reminded me of the "Tree of Life" in Lehi's dream.

Some of the fancy chickens roaming around where we parked our car.

Solar unit on the top of a Lipova home.

Back from the fortress.

Monastery in Lipova.

The sisters applying for Sora Broadbear's Visa.

We drove to Covasant which is a village outside of Arad to visit an investigator and have a picnic.  We took our pb&j sandwiches, cookies and chips and stopped alongside the road by a little lake.  We set up our stuff in some trees and dreamed about camping.  We noticed that the sky was getting black and decided that it would be a good idea to get back to the car before it started to rain.  Sure enough, before we could get to the investigators home, which was a short distance, the rain was coming down in sheets and it was hailing.  We pulled up in his driveway and called him on the phone to say we were there.  He opened the gate and we RAN.  Everyone was drenched to the bone.  We sat at his table dripping wet and taught him a lesson on the restoration.  Such is a day in the work of missionaries.

Friday we met with the Sisters in Oradea to help them with some Family History.  We went early so we could visit the "American Grill"  where we can get a really good American hamburger.  The photo above is taken in the "Centru" of Oradea.  Romanians really like to eat outdoors in the summer.  Almost every restaurant and bar has a place where you can enjoy eating and visiting outdoors.  The centre in Oradea has been renovated and is very beautiful.

A driveby Gypsy shooting. . .just kidding.  I took the photo as we were driving by.  I think this is the most gypsy wives I have seen all together in one place.

Mother's day wildflowers and the homemade card from the Sisters.  Perfect!!
