4 June 2018 - Week 61

We look forward to Zone conference every transfer.  It is an opportunity to see the missionaries from zones who we don't see very often.  This transfer we met for mission tour so it included about half the missionaries in the mission plus 5 senior missionary couples.  It took the place of Zone Conference.  Our visiting authority at the mission tour will be Elder Massimo DeFeo from Italy.  We became acquainted with him at our District Conference in spring and we were excited to learn from him again.

What a great teacher he is.  In the picture you see him working with a pair of Elders randomly chosen from the group. He expanded on the major topics of the day with examples of teachings in the scriptures.  I think the one I liked best was how he tied using daily planning with the scriptures and God's plans.

In the picture below, you can see us on the back row on the right side.

The Romanians really take their holidays seriously.  This week was "Children's Day".  I think it is a combination of the beginning of summer and the finishing of another school year.  These darling little children were singing just inside the festival gate.  It reminds me of the school programs we have in America.

The people were sitting on the grass visiting, eating, and listening to the program.  Here is a little group of gypsies. Look at the long braids with brightly colored ribbons tied in them.

We were looking for some supper and ended up having ice cream and twirled potatoes.

I had to grab a photo of one of the vendor wagon's with a catchy name - Eat like a Man!

Hello Kitty was even there taking photos with little people.

These beautiful floral designs were also in the Children's day park. They reminded me of the stuff we see in the Rose Bowl parade on New Year's. The sheep are covered with white statice.

I thought this lion was amazing.

We also found a floral expo on a side street near the park where they were celebrating children's day. Here is a photo of Sora Nemelka and Sora Broadbear at the entrance of the expo which was on the cool umbrella street.

Here is a look at some random Romanian houses with hollyhocks.

And another gypsy wagon.

  1. Thanks for sharing your blog. My son is in Romania right now (Elder Bowen). I love to get the perspective of the other missionaries that are serving there. He is in the first picture, and it made my day to see a candid picture with him in it. Do you mind if I reuse it?
