26 June 2017 - Week 12

Buna Dimineață - Good morning!

We received our transfer instructions on Saturday so we began week 13 with helping our Elders and Soras make their connections with their new companionship.

The Elders missed their train on Sunday night because they decided to do some last minute visiting branch members.  In order to get anywhere, they have to take a train or ride the transit system.  It is hard to do anything quickly.  We received a call about 15 minutes before their train was to leave saying they needed a ride because they were running late.  I thought it would be a MIRACLE if we made it to the train in time.  A miracle did not happen.  Then we had to figure out what to do about it.

The big problem is that most transfers are scheduled carefully like a set of dominos.  If one part gets messed up, it affects many others.  If a set of Elders misses the first leg of their transfer, it can cause problems down the line.  Elder Paul was supposed to be in Bucharest on Monday, locate his new companion and catch a flight to Timisoara.  They HAD to get to Bucharest Sunday night.  We decided to see if there were any more trains to Bucharest that night and luckily there were.  So they had to buy new tickets (with their own money) and we sent them on their way.  Wheew. A night of restless sleep on the train would put them in Bucharest by morning.

Monday, we drove the Sisters to Oradea (a 2 hr drive one way) to drop Sister Anderson at the apartment of her new companion, Sister Gubar.  Sister Alger and Sister Anderson had a sweet companionship and parting was very sad for them.  We drove back to Arad. Stopped at our apartment for a quick snack and then drove to Timisoara to meet Sister Alger's new companion, Sister Castaneda.
We had a busy couple of days, but all turned out well.

Here we are at our Branch meetings on Sunday.  You can see Elder Andersen, Elder Gora (our new Elder) and Elder Paul.  The second picture is Sister Alger, Sister Botca (our branch pianist) and Sister Castaneda.

Brent goes for a morning walk 3 or 4 times a week.  Jamie stays at the apartment and does Yoga.  Thanks to Shelly, the best personal trainer ever!  He walks past this area in the photo and decided to take a photo of the flower bed that honors the Romanian soccer team. They were once the best soccer team in Europe. They are not doing so well now, but a big new soccer field is being constructed just across from the park where the flower bed is.

On Saturday we cleaned the church and made the program for Sacrament meeting on Sunday.  We went to church in Arad on Sunday and then went to Timisoara again.  Brent had difficulty processing the tithing because Elder Wilstead is gone and even though we tried to get the computer changes made, adding Elder Gore as 1st counselor in the Branch Presidency, it was not all that was needed.  In the process, they moved Elder Gore out of his home ward and into the Arad branch, which is a no-no.  He had to call LDS Global Support to get it corrected.
