7 August 2017 - Week 18

Transfer weeks are always interesting.  Elder Huntsman, who was the acting Branch President in Timisoara was called last week to the mission office and Elder Custer flew in to replace him in Timisoara. This all happened before the transfer instructions were published, so we did not know if Elder Custer was permanent or if he would be going to a different place.  When the transfers came out, we learned Elder Custer would stay in Timi.  (Half of his luggage was still in Bucharest.) We learned that Sister Alger was going to Sibiu and Sister Castaneda would become a trainer and her new companion would a (greenie) sister straight from the Provo MTC.

Sunday Brent gave a lesson on the sacrifices of the pioneers.  He had troubles with his media, but the lesson was very good.  He felt bad about it. He had Brother Moldovan from the branch translate so he could have a group discussion.  The sisters and I assured him that it was very good.

Monday we put Sora Alger on a train to Sibiu.  This left Sister Castaneda without a companion for the day.  Brent took her and the Elders to see the nearby fortress.

Tuesday morning we got up at 4:15 and drove to Timi to get Sister Castaneda on a plane to Bucharest.  She would pick up her companion there and be trained about being a trainer. The new sister is Sora Folsom from Seattle, Washington.  They got on a train in Bucharest at 11:45 on Wednesday night and traveled through the night to arrive in Arad on Thursday morning.

Knowing that Sister Castaneda would be bringing Elder Custer's luggage, a guitar in a case and large suitcase, the Arad Elders met us at the train depot to help. Here are some photos of the train station.

The train was an hour and a half late.  By the time we figured out they had arrived, they were already in the station with all the baggage.  We weren't much help.
This photo shows the sisters and Brent at their apartment building.

We are seeing lots of roadside stands where watermelon, squash, tomatoes, and fruit are being sold by local farmers.

Brent found this trackmobile on his walk. I know this will not mean anything to anyone except Don and Bruce, but I was walking past the Astra Factory when they were getting ready to switch some cars to different tracks. I looked in the gate and saw a sight that I remember.  The cars were being pulled by a Trackmobile. Just like the ones we used to use. The Astra Factory makes Train cars and sells them World wide.
