2 April 2018 - Week 52

Monday for preparation day we drove to the Corvin Castle again in Hunedoara.  Sora Sterrett will return home soon and neither of the sisters had been there, so despite the chilly day. . .we decided to go.  They enjoyed the trip.  Here are a few more pictures from the castle.

Notice the great plaid shirt Brent is wearing.  We didn't think about needing more than one set of casual clothes when we packed for Romania, so he has one shirt for winter and luckily Jennifer brought us a couple more summer shirts.

We have noticed these corn cribs in the rural parts of Romania as we travel through the villages.  I had to stop and get a photo.

Not sure how we did it, but we are at the castle on the same day as many school kids.  We thought it might make our visit unpleasant, but the kids were all well behaved and the teachers were organized.   And a bonus was that there were several castle "characters" there for us to enjoy.

Wednesday morning we got up at 3:00 am again to go to Timisoara to catch take the trip to Moldova.   We drove to Timisoara, flew from Timisoara to Bucharest, and took another plane to Chisineu, Moldova.  By the time we got home, we had been through 4 security checks, including four full-body pat-downs for Jamie because of her artificial joints, twice through immigration for passport checking and stamping.  We arrived home at 12 midnight.  What a day!

This trip was the last of our Zone conference presentations on Family History.  It has been fun to meet with all the missionaries in the mission.  Many of them have past Family History experience, so hopefully, they will be able follow our instructions and get the two names for baptisms per companionship that the President has asked them to get.  Several of the missionaries who have served in our area were there.  It was fun to see them again.

Yummy treat prepared by Sora Godfrey for part of the Zone Conference.  We missed this part of the meeting, but she saved it for us.

We went with the sisters for lunch at the Arad centru Pasti (Easter) market.  Almost as fun as the Christmas market and not as cold.

Mini Krustos - Delicious, cinnamony, bread thingy wrapped on a form and cooked over charcoal.  Filled with whipped cream, strawberries, and topped with a scoop of ice cream and a rolled cookie,   MMMM...
