23 April 2018 - Week 55

When we order things from the LDS store, the order is fulfilled from Germany.  They do not charge us for shipping which is nice, however, the items are not usually shipped together.  We have made many trips to Posta 8 in our neighborhood to pick up packages.  This week we again made a trip downtown to retrieve a package from the posta.

As we walked to the posta I realized the walkway had markings on it that I haven't seen before. It is divided in two.  One side for walkers and the other for things with wheels.
Hmmm maybe everyone does not get it.

Tuesday was Zone Conference.  We woke up at 4:45 to get ready.  It is a 4-hour drive to Cluj where the conference was being held.  The conference was well taught by President Hettinger and Sora Hettinger.  We learned that if we keep his commandments, God will cause the earth to shake in our behalf.  We should always confess the hand of God in our work and in our lives.  We should focus on what we have and seek to magnify it.  The Lord will multiply our talent.   Sora Hettinger taught us that if we should be careful in our choices that they do not affect others in a negative way. She referenced Elder Bednar's talk from conference teaching us the characteristics of meek:  Righteous Responsiveness, Willing Submissiveness, and Strong Self Restraint.

Breaking for lunch

Subway sandwiches are a hit.

Sora Staley and Sora Nemelka in the kitchen for something to drink.

More lunchtime visiting.

Sora Staley and Sora Muhlstein provided a beautiful musical number.

We stopped at the Mall for some supper before making the 4-hour drive back to Arad.  This Sisters found a little kiosk making pancake-like things with chocolate and whipped cream on them.  Brent and I ordered our KFC usual.  Filet bites.

I had to snap a pic of this kid riding around the mall on his hoverboard.   It was fun to watch him glide along like he didn't even have to think about running the board with his feet.

I had read on Elder Day's blog about things in the trees that look like bird nests, but that are actually mistletoe.  The mistletoe is a parasite that attaches itself to other trees.  I have been watching for this as we travel throughout Romania and on our trip to Cluj, we finally spotted some.

I took the photo below as we drove the winding, narrow roads on our return to Arad.  We always pray for protection as driving the roads here is always precarious.  There are lots of big trucks too, so we are grateful when we arrive back to our apartment with no accidents.

We were asked to inspect the apartments of the missionaries in Oradea, Arad, and Timisoara.  So we began with the Elders in Timisoara.  I could not resist taking this photo while we were there.  Romanians love flowers.  We are seeing them everywhere in planters, in pots, and just in the grass.  This highway divider was beautiful.
